Strawberry pickers
-
Description
-
Black and white image of a young girl with her hair in pony tails picking strawberries. She kneels in between the rows of berries and works to fill a series of plastic trays with strawberries. Other workers can be seen in the field, and in the background a bus is parked, along with two other vehicles, a car and a pick-up truck. Museum records do not identify either the farm or its location, nor do they identify the workers, but the landscape is very typical of Washington County. This photo was part of the Herbert McMullen bequest. McMullen was a local photographer who, in addition to taking his own photographs, collected images that depicted daily life in the area.
