Description: Black and white image of a large lumber mill and associated buildings. Begun in the 1940s, this mill, belonging to the Stimson Lumber Company, was one of the first in the United States to focus on making 'hardboard,' a compressed wood product. In this way, Stimson was able to make use of much of the partially burned and cracked green lumber left over after the Tillamook Burn.; [back] [pen] Stimson Lumber 1950's.
