Description

Fourteen men pose before a brick wall, seven seated on a bench, four on the ground before them and three standing behind them. All wear knickers, dark or ribbed socks, and ankle-high laced up shoes. Several wear dark turtlenecks; five wear tightly laced, light-colored long-sleeved shirts; one wears a vest laced over a dark, long-sleeved shirt. One man on the bench wears a cap with a brim. a man reclining on the ground holding a football also wears a Tam o'Shanter. On the matting below the image is written in black ink: 'Foot Ball Team, Hillsboro, Oregon 1897 or 8.'
