Title
-
Tribute to the Pacific Rim
-
Description
-
This project is a group collaboration involving the entire Basic Design 110 class with the guidance Professor Jan Shield. The concept is about the creation of a multi-panel image as tribute to the countries of the Pacific Rim. The class prepared the panels with gesso primer, applied the collage base of Japanese rice papers selected for their natural coloration and texture with emulsions, used pressed leaves from the Northwest to create an interconnection from East to West, worked acrylic color over the top to provide a banding sense of diagonal unity, and used Golden Color Interference to provide a shimmering effect along with both satin and gloss varnish over layers which integrate the shiny to dull nature to the overall composition.
