A newspaper article from the Pacific University student newspaper, The Index, titled Yale Debating Team. The article covers former Pacific University Professor of Public Speaking, Henry Smith. Smith taught at Pacific between 1902-1904. He then returned back east to continue his studies at the Divinity School at Yale. Smith was an active member of Yale's debate team. Tragically, Smith drown in 1907 in Lake Geneva, New York, trying to save a young woman in the water. This article appears in a scrapbook compiled by Frances B. Clapp, a 1908 Pacific University graduate.
