The front porch starts at the right corner of the two story section and extends about half way across the front of the single story section. There is a white alternating picket fence with a gate between two large boxed fence posts. There are three people in the picture, a man, John F. Shorb, to the left of the front of the house, a woman, Addie Shorb, in the open doorway into the house and a man, John D. Shorb, with a beard sitting in a chair on the porch. All three are wearing hats and dressed in their finer clothing. There is a wood board sidewalk entering on the left side of the picture and extends across in front of the fence but terminates a short distance to the right if the gate.

James and his wife, Caroline lived in the house from 1874 to 1882. Mr. Robb was the Washington County Superintendent of Schools and principal of the Tualatin Academy from 1874 – 1881. Mr. Robb sold the house to Rev. William Roberts and his wife Hanna in 1881. Rev. Roberts had a distinguished career in Methodiest missionary work in Oregon. This couple raised young Catherine Sager, a survivor of the Whitman Massacre. Edward and Samantha Coleman purchased the house in 1900. Samantha was a suffragette and temperance lady. Picture is looking through a doorway at the stairway to the second floor. Mr. Robb signed his name in the stairway where it remains today. This house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 14, 1988.
