Victor Atiyeh served as governor of Oregon from 1979-1987. This is one part of an oral history interview that was originally recorded on over 60 cassette tapes by the Oregon Historical Society. It is accompanied by a typed transcript. This portion covers: Pardoning of Duane Samples, 1982; interview with 60 Minutes and Mike Wallace, 1982; thoughts on Kulongoski's plan to invest portions of state employee pensions; divestment from South African companies, early 1980s; problems African Americans have in America; support for longshoremen and timber exports; platform for his second term as Governor.
